Natural Park Ixpanpajul

Natural Park Ixpanpajul is a splendid forest, the natural shelter of a wide variety of plants, trees and animals that have decided to stay in this place, the cradle of the Mayan culture.

A Group of Guatemalans runs the park. They are involved in Natural Sciences and environment and possess a deep respect for life in all its manifestations. They also consider a paramount duty to work arduously in the conservation of the forest, giving this a reasonable use. The group also looks for diverse recreation alternatives to achieve an interrelation of coexistence and balance between visitor and nature.

Ixpanpajul, located at Km. 468 from Río Dulce to Flores, just 10 kilometers from the Santa Elena Peten´s airport. It has an area of 9 km2, which is equivalent to 450 hectares. It has more than 200 species of trees, 150 species of birds and around 40 species of mammals.
